Koniec z deszczem, krawężnikami, chodnikami z płyt i przebijaniem sie drogami szybkiego ruchu - mamy już wszędzie oddzieloną specjalnym krawężnikiem własną drogę równoległą do głównych drążonych w skałach.
25.06.2009 - I wakeup in ours cabin, we left Polish harbor long time ago, we are at open sea and weather is great! Since half way on Baltic Sea clouds are disappearing and it is sunny – there is some hope:)Map at the bottom shows Karlskrona “Harbour” and our rest place “Day 2”, yellow route in between is a tracked route from that day. Google Maps cannot handle files with tracked route so I have to manage it in Google Earth and put printscreen here. If you want to take a look at interactive maps and check all details you can click on links to Nokia Sports Tracker workouts.
Now I can read at ship without closing my eyes because of sleepless night, together with girls we are taking a look all over the ship mostly at decks on air which are exposed to sun right now – we didn’t see sun since few days.
Half ferry time we use to take some rest after intensive night in trains and sleeping Gdynia. I’m trying to go at highest decks as many times as it is possible, I have to admit that I love air at the sea and the look of “boiling” water underneath ship;) Sometimes it happens that in this boiled water are thousands of pink jellyfishes, you can see them even from 8-10 floor but right now it’s too soon for them this year.
Since 5 PM we can see Sweden and its islands – not so many In this region as it is in other parts. We started to pass by old rounded stronghold, islands owned by army, after that islands owned by “nobody” and now some with small vacation houses with marinas.
Now it seems that we really should take our things from cabin and go to decks for cars but there is no such big pressure at us as it is on car owners. We used time to take some pictures and use mobile phones because at the sea we could call but had to pay extremely high prices like 9 $ per min.
In result we stayed on highest decks so the rush hours when big crowd want to get to cars at one time ended;) We didn’t have any problems with getting to ours machines and mounting bicycle bags, now we just have to wait when mooring process ends. Well, because of our little disorder in setting us on the way out we have to let all cars go instead us first, that is why we left higher car deck at the end:P
Finally moment I’ve been waiting for years. All my life when I waited in many different harbors I always admired bicyclist who drives out the ship so fast if you compare them to heavy trucks and cars. I dreamed to be one of the bicyclist with loaded bags just smiled that finally can start some trip or taking a look at the ship to consider a comeback to place which he just ended to explore. Well I couldn’t enjoy this show if I came to harbor with my parents just 2 minutes before departure or specially when ship have to go back 10 meters (it really happened once!) for us if we were late a little:P
My way down the ramps outside ship is captured on video:) I tape it using only standard camera, I admit that without any plan but I cut it quite nice in Movie Maker mostly to remove moments when I had to drop camera and grab handlebar for a while …and moment when wind falls of my hat so I had to go back a little:P It is only between us, don’t tell anybody so they won’t see this at the movie:P
As you hear I used Sibiria song but it covered Ramya’s “ŁuuuuuUUuuuhhuuł!!!” while she ride out of ship;) Few seconds before we passed by some man from crew, we talked with him 10 hours earlier at way in – he told that in Sweden really was sunny. So when I was getting out and he said “so you have yours sun;)” I said “yes, it’s perfect!”;)
We cruised a little in harbor and directed to border check ….but decided to take some pictures first. I remember for example border checks between Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia where always was huge warning signs with red crossed camera so I don’t know does we did this legal but no one interrupted us;) We crossed border without even showing ID (not needed anymore) and claiming that we don’t have any alcohol (yes, we really are from Poland:P), any knifes and any pistols.
So we are on the road, got a plan to leave island and turn right to bicycle routes between E22 motorway and coastline. Sun is shining but by its orange light says that we don’t have much time. No rain, unregular sidewalks, kerbstones and fighting with cars – at least we have our own road for bicycles parallel to main roads drilled in stones.
Then I realized that we don’t have any detail map for any part of Sweden except Öland. Of course I had big one but there wasn’t roads which we needed. There is no problem If you are by car – everywhere are hug signs which shows you main cities and motorway… but not our smaller road. We get to shopping center and there found our road which I remembered from the preparations of the route. Since then we could drive using special bicycle roads all the way:)
Roads leads through small town and villages, girls are even irritated how pedantic are peoples gardens and houses – I’m again disappointed by this “mess” which is popular in southern Sweden but it is still a beautiful place when you compare it to other parts of Europe. We couldn’t not to try strawberries when we was passing by many fields full of it. When we were discussing on some crossroads are we already on this map or still not, should we go to campings from “this” signs or maybe to some more further. We should look so lost that two Swedish girls stopped car and asked how to help us:P Well we just get information that to Svanhalla we have something about 20 km. My fault with those maps – I couldn’t load Sweden to GPS, detailed paper map I planned to buy at ship …but I forgot:P All the time I was thinking only about Öland and I get high detailed map with all routes, pathes and stuff for tourists.
So we know that we have to forget about Svanhalla and we stop when it’s really late – firs night on some trekking path between fields and forest with signs of sheep existence there;) Everything just a bit from Jämjö.
I’m wonder do I really have to put all my bicycle bags to tent, lock bicycle… finally we all leave everything outside and just have hope that bicycles won’t fall because of its heavy load. So we are sleeeeping now….
